News and Notes - Driving Tip - Waving...it couldn't hurt

Okay, we've all done it. Changed lanes without a signal, pulled out in front of someone, caused someone else to make an evasive maneuver the like. What usually infuriates drivers that are already ticked off at you is your total lack of acknowledgement of your dirty deed. Most people are forgiving by nature. Remember to wave "thank you" or "sorry, I'm brain-dead" or "gee, thanks for not testing my insurance coverage".

Nobody wants to have an accident. It usually takes both drivers' failure at "evasion" tactics to have an accident. Why not "thank" the other driver for picking up on your poor judgment! He/she just saved you from a great big insurance claim and possible legal headache, not to mention the loss of time, money and aggravation with your vehicle repair after a "bang-bang".

A simple "wave" as an acknowledgement of your error will likely not make folks smile at you, (after all, your maneuver was pretty dumb now wasn't it?) but it might diffuse a potentially fatal encounter with a mad-person (politically correct). We all know that there are lots of crazies out there. This little "wave" might just save your life someday. And remember to accept someone else's wave as their thanks for your consideration.

As the traffic congestion continually increases around your area, remember to take care of one another. A little wave doesn't cost you anything and really helps recipients.
