Toyota Accelerator Pedal Problems

Most of you have already heard about the troubles that Toyota is currently having with the accelerator pedals on many of their models. These cars have gas pedal assemblies that are electronic, meaning there is no cable or linkage connection to the engine. The accelerator pedal has sensors and a mechanism to create the "feel" of the mechanical gas pedal that we are used to. The engine management computer electronically commands the amount of throttle the engine receives.

The identified problem is primarily mechanical with the pedal assemblies themselves. While the manufacturer has developed a fix and are implementing the recalls, we at Motor Works would like to keep our clients safe, informed and in the loop.

Here's a list of the affected cars:

2009-2010 RAV4
2009-2010 Corolla
2009-2010 Matrix
2005-2010 Avalon
2007-2010 Camry
2010 Highlander
2008-2010 Sequoia
2007-2010 Tundra
2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe

SAFETY NOTE: If your Toyota model has keyless ignition (just a button to start the car) and you should experience a problem, you must push and hold the button down AT LEAST 3 SECONDS until the car turns off. Pressing and releasing the button while driving will not shut the engine off.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns, and don't worry...they'll make it right.

Hope this helps,
